I want to list a particular players' games played within a time period. For example, all the games that Anand played during to So far what I see a combintion of Chessbase 11 and Fritz or Shredder might work.
While that will be a bit expensive, I am ready to go for it unless there is a better or cheaper way. Please let me know your thoughts. Shredder classic must be easy to use if a Gen Xer brought up with ET and The neverending Story can use it to do most of points How about Scid vs.
You should try it. Why buy commercial software if you will use a few functions of it? I used to use Fritz but its database system is awful.
Unless you know the shortcut key F12 in Fritz you are stuck. Shredder's database system is a lot easier to use. Shredder doesn't come with Fritz's game compendium. But I don't find that to be an issue: you can get game pgn lists off the net anyway. For instance yesterday I downloaded a world champ pgn game file from this site.
We have to agree to disagree on that one. I have spent sometimes 20 minutes completely lost in Fritz 8's databse system knowing that a database is there taht I want to see, while not being able to find it. Maybe it's my age. I didn't grow up with computers. Maybe a 12 year old digital native would have no such problems. U should definitely get mega database! If you are looking for a website membership of course i always support chess. It dose not have a fourm system like chess. Here is a blog, where a friend of mine spent a lot of time gathering links to free chess things on the internet and good sites for getting data from.
He doesn't maintain it anymore, but I think most of the links still work:. Fritz is very useful for me. Playing against a computer allows you to exercise your tactical ability.
I was thinking of chessmaster 11,but it is said that it is full of bugs. And there is no mention on ubisoft website about the 12th edition. Some of the users say that the 11th edition has bugs,so it is better to get the 10th edition. Is chessmaster 11 really that bad? I keep coming back to the fact that the most gain I can make as a player is to just use what I have books, and free stuff on line, and chess.
This might be a topic for its own thread in a different sub-forum, but the one thing I'd like to see here is a way to better organize the chess. I don't have a more specific way of saying what I'm looking for, and I could just down load a bunch of games an plug them into SCID or something, but I'd rather it all be self contained on my "my home" page here so I can access it it and progress through it as the biggest part of my "study master games" part of learning.
I've been a diamond member for like a year and I do think it is worth it. I use Chess. I've used it for Chess Mentor really great and will start using Chess Mentor again once I've completed this project I'm working on trying to get through the chess videos. I use Fritz12 hardly at all. I'm mad at it. While it has a database, I'm still trying to figure it out. I tried making my own databases of my own games e. I put maybe 6 hours into trying to mess with it and gave up.
But it doesn't seem to do that any better than ChessBase Light which is free and comes with the fritz6 engine.
It is very pretty. I watch live event coverage on ICC and I play games on there. I do not play as many games here, but if Chess. If I were you, I'd get chessbase light and see if you like it and how you use it.
If you like it, watch the demos on the chessbase website for Chessbase 11 and maybe get that. I wish I'd gotten that instead of Fritz Fritz12 is a turd so far.
