Why does my gamecube freeze

If this was on another game, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but since it's on Majora's Mask, I end up having to redo a few parts of the game.

Anyone else experience this? User Info: xboxboy Top Voted Answer. Its common for the collectors edition, Wile you load majoras mask. You see a note about it. Mostly the sound irregularity. But it does some, for some mroe then others. Here's the best way to prevent that. It helps minimize the freezing. I've only had the game freeze twice, once with it off, and once with it on.

So I played for quite awhile It's not your disk and it will happen to any collectors edition gamecube disk. However, it almsot never happens on the version you buy from the wii shop channel.

That is a better port. Similar agreements apply to other advertising or affiliate programs such as those from eBay, Google, etc. Remember Me? What's New? Results 1 to 11 of Thread: Gamecube Freezing. Thread Tools Show Printable Version. I haven't had any issues with the game or the system before. Now it won't last more than 5 minutes.

I tried Skies of Arcadia Legends and it too freezes. It seems to only freeze during loading screens, the first 2 times being when using a telepipe the 3rd and 4th when loading a save and the 5th when starting a new file. It just appears to be locking up at random.

But if I play the game for an extended period of time, it'll lock up. But that's if I play the game, not just put it on pause or anything. So about minutes into playing time, BAM! Locks up. I only have 1 game for it, so I don't know if it's the game, or if its the Gamecube. Man, that sucks. I just had the same thing happen with Metroid Prime so maybe that's the culprit? I've had my GC for a couple months now and never had trouble.

Just brought home Prime tonight and got about 10 minutes into it and got the lockup problem. After restarting the GC I couldn't get past the text that comes up before the first scene. Funny thing is, my last resort was to toss Super Mario Sunshine in there to see how it did. It was great, I got through a level, and then went back to Prime. No problems after nearly 3 hours of gameplay after that I'll try it again on a break now Rent a game to see if it works.

Is it used or new? You said it wouldn't crash while paused. Are you sure? Maybe you should leave your GC on for a while to see Also, if it were me, I'd document the time that I started and time that it crashed, but I'm anal like that. It's received light use over the years. I've been using it more the past couple of years.

I've noticed on at least 3 games that it will occasionally lock up and emit a buzzing sound. I rationalized that there was probably a bug in the emulation code. The disc has a few light scratches but I did not think it was the disc because surely Ms Pac Man has been fully loaded into memory after 30 minutes.

It can't be a large game. It took me multiple attempts to get past this part of the game and it froze with the buzzing noise almost every 2nd or 3rd time. This disc is more scratched so that could be a factor here.

After clocking in a total of about 40 hours on Metroid Prime it happened for the first time I can remember playing that game yesterday. This disc is nearly pristine. So I'm trying to determine if it's my Gamecube or the discs. My question: Is there a way to verify that an entire Gamecube disc can be read?
